Displaying Your Portraits: Ideas for Showcasing Your Wall Art

Your beautiful family portraits deserve to be showcased in the best way possible in your home. But how do you display your wall art for maximum visual impact? As an experienced portrait artist, I often get asked for tips on creatively arranging portraits to elevate a space. Here are some ideas:

**Add a Finishing Touch with Beautiful Frames**

A great frame can really elevate your portrait while complementing your existing decor. We always want the frame to go well with the portrait first and foremost, then we take your room's color palette and your personal style into consideration to create a cohesive look. Our Custom framing services will elevate your Art

**Design a Harmonious Portrait Display**

When displaying multiple portraits, aim for a symmetrical arrangement above a sofa or on a stairwell landing. Choose identical or coordinating frames and space them evenly for a balanced look. For visual impact, cluster smaller framed pieces in a square or rectangular shape. Hang a large statement piece alone to command attention. Or we can create a Wall Collection, Triptych or our very unique "Art Wall" that will make a big impact.

**Enhance Your Art with Proper Lighting**

Proper lighting is key for making portraits stand out. Place your art where natural light can illuminate it during the day. Install picture lights, sconces or track lighting above eye level to cast light down on your portrait. Use dimmers to adjust brightness. Displaying your pieces away from windows prevents damage from direct sunlight.

**Pair Your Portraits with Complementary Decor**

Your frame and room decor should match your portrait’s style. Formal living rooms call for ornate gold frames, while black and white photos suit modern spaces with sleek accents. Candid images of children pair nicely with colorful walls and fun frames. Beach portraits go perfectly with coastal blue and white spaces. Place your Wall Art in a room where you spend quality family time together and you will enjoy it every day.

Display your beautiful portraits with thoughtful framing, arrangements, lighting, and design to enhance your home with both beauty and significance. Contact Elizabeth anytime to discuss custom framing options or to schedule your next session. Let’s create artistic portraits for you to treasure for a lifetime.
